It all started with Goku. We were living 3000 miles apart, yet by some lucky chance we still don't fully understand, we showed up for each other on a dating app. Over a mutual love for blue heelers, our story began.
After weeks of chatting back and forth about life and the quirkiness of cattle dogs, we had our very first virtual date over a video call on July 3, 2020. After an hour and a half of laughing through what we intended to be a 20-minute first chat, we knew we would want to keep getting to know each other over that summer despite our geographic inconvenience.
We felt we knew each other well by the time we had our first in-person date in late August, picnicking and walking through rose gardens and parks in San Francisco. Over the next 10 months, we would meet each other's friends and families, explore new places, take countless train and car rides between Sacramento and the Bay Area, and generally steal every opportunity we could to be together.
By the time the following June rolled around, we were finally living in the same city - and just a short walk apart from each other. After a year of long distance, this period of living closer to each other was magical. Before we knew it, we were ready to cut out the distance entirely and move in together.
Throughout our relationship, we've realized that in addition to our love for each other, we deeply enjoy supporting each others' dreams - producing a movie, purchasing a home, planning for a family, and adopting our sweet second dog, Sati. We have also cherished our ability to help each other grow - never shying away from real and open communication and working through challenges we have faced as individuals and as a couple. On New Year's Day of 2023, we decided we wanted to spend our lives together.
Since then, as you all know, we have faced some of the highest highs and some of the lowest lows. Our love and appreciation for each other have grown even stronger through the joys and the hardships. On October 13, 2023, we got engaged in a beautiful rose garden, harkening back to our first date in Golden Gate Park.
We are truly grateful for your love and support over the last four years and are so excited to see you at our wedding weekend. We cannot wait to celebrate with all of you and make beautiful memories we will remember our whole lives!
